Raven and the French Fry Dilemma – p.1

Not too long ago and closer than you think, there lived a big, handsome Raven. He had wings and feet and a beak and eyes, all of the shiniest black. He was usually very happy, scavenging for french fries in the parking lot near where he lived, but on one terrible day, he lost his happiness.

As fate would have it, a bright red Cardinal flew into town, and he began to fight with the Raven for the french fries. Cardinal was much smaller than Raven, but Raven could not bring himself to hurt the other bird. He didn’t mind sharing, and the Cardinal’s rich crimson feathers had enchanted the Raven so much that he eventually stopped fighting altogether and just waited to eat until the Cardinal was full and flew away.

But the Cardinal didn’t leave. He figured if he could have all the french fries he wanted, and the Raven was just going to stand by and watch, why should he go back to the woods where food was scarce?

Raven could hardly believe his eyes as he watched the Cardinal growing fatter, eating every single piece of food in the entire parking lot. If bird’s beaks could frown, Raven would have been frowning deeply, indeed.
