The Journey of Blue Jax – p.4

When the herd had finally passed, Jax felt her heart sink; the oak sapling was gone!

She ran back out into the clearing where it had been, and was relieved and amused to see that it was in fact still there, only completely trampled and flat. She had her pick of fresh green leaves then, at least the few that hadn’t been ruined by the clawfoot elk. Her goal accomplished, Jax headed back to her toadstool. The snow began to fall more heavily, and the temperature continued to drop.

The leaves would only last her one night, and would turn brittle and brown soon after, but it was the best plan she could think of. Planning, indeed, was not her most favorite thing to do. Tomorrow will take care of itself, she thought.

Aww it’s ok Jax. I can’t plan for more than one day either. It’s better to take it one day at a time. Nice writing sib – I love this story!

Sorry I haven’t been commenting. But, once again, you have me on the edge of my chair, worrying about another small person/creature and hoping it will all turn out OK. Wonderful. 🙂
