Shaardul Cleans Up – p.1

Deep in a warm, fragrant jungle, at a very safe distance from where you live, there is a tiger. He is walking quietly on his big padded paws, but he is not stalking prey.

Not this time.

The tiger is young but fully grown, with sharp teeth and sharper claws. He has eyes that can see perfectly well in the darkest night. He is well respected by other creatures of the jungle, though this was not always so.

His orange and black stripes are dulled by a thick layer of dirt, and his fur is rumpled. This tiger has been, quite literally, down in the dumps, rolling in filth, and has only just emerged. He is on his way to wash up in the river that runs through his jungle home.

His name is Shaardul.

How did he get so messy? Let us go back to the beginning of the story…
