Shaardul Cleans Up – p.5

Shaardul was on the hunt that night, oblivious to the fact that he was a topic of discussion. He knew there were other tigers in the jungle, but he rarely came in contact with them. He was on the trail of a scent; it was a small mammal, moving quickly across the roots of the trees. He had not seen it yet, but his nose was never wrong.

Suddenly he heard screeching and squeals overhead; he looked up and found that he had wandered into the nesting territory of the monkeys. The noise calmed down when they realized it was him, and a few even climbed down to watch him go by, completely unafraid to be within his reach while he was hunting.

Shaardul paid them no mind, and continued sniffing out his small prey. His hunger was growing unbearable, and he was beginning to get grumpy. He didn’t normally feel grumpy, or happy, or sad, or much of anything other than hungry or sleepy, so the fact that he was getting grumpy nearly made him forget what he was doing, and it took him a while to refocus and find the scent again.

Wow. That’s the first tiger I’ve ever heard of that has emotional ADD. I like this story so far. The monkeys make me laugh in my head.
