Cedar Stormchaser – p.7

“You’re running the wrong way, AWK!”

Cedar stopped in his tracks and turned to see a great bird of prey. Its wings were striped with white and blue feathers, and its beak was bright yellow, as were its eyes.

“I am going the way I wish to go,” Cedar replied. He was determined that no other creatures would slow him down or keep him from his goal.

“That storm is no place for a boy, AWK! You will be blown away.”

“I will not be a boy for long, and I will not be blown away. I have lived through many storms before.”

“None like this, none like this!” The bird flew in circles around Cedar, sending hard gusts of wind at his head with its wings. Cedar swung his arms, trying to hit the bird or wave it away, and was rewarded with sharp pecks from the bird’s strong beak. “You can’t touch the wind, AWK!”
