Moksha – p.9

For three days the herd traveled across the dry land, and Moksha had never felt so tired in her life. She didn’t even have the energy to complain. Near the end of the third day, she saw something up ahead that lifted her spirits: green! There were live, green plants in the distance, and she hoped there would be water nearby.

As they marched ever closer, Moksha became confused. The plants looked odd, as if they completely covered the ground. There was a lot of shade between them, and in the fading light she couldn’t tell real from illusion.

It wasn’t until the herd stopped that Moksha finally saw that the plants were actually the tops of many trees; they had come to the edge of the dry land, and it dropped off straight down into a forest valley. She walked to the edge and looked over the tops of the trees. On the far side of the valley was the widest river she’d ever seen.
